Different Career Options in the Engineering Field

Engineering is a wide work category that refers to professions that use mathematics and science to solve different problems. Engineers work in disciplines that include electrical, mechanical, civil, environmental, and chemical engineering, among others.

As engineering is a wide field, there are several engineering jobs titles. Here is a list of various engineering job titles along with a description of what the work involves. But, before you start, find out if engineering is the right career for you.

Engineer Educational Requirements

Most engineer positions need a minimum of bachelor’s degree in the engineering field associated with the job. However, certain positions (mainly in the materials engineering) only needed an associate degree or specialized apprenticeship training; these include different roles like stationary engineers, boiler engineers, and welding engineers. Engineer positions pay well, and several engineering jobs have a powerful job outlook.

Job Titles and Position Descriptions in Engineering

Here are some of the common engineering job titles, and description of each.
